Privacy Policy

Summary
Talktap is built to work on your device. We do not ask for your name or email, we do not sell or share your personal data, and the files you create stay on your iPhone unless you choose to share them.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Onat Cipli, trading as App House, Izmir, Türkiye. This page covers Talktap. The policy covering every App House app is at https://apphouse.co/privacy/. Where the two differ for this app, this page governs.
Data we collect
- Anonymous identifier: the app creates a random, anonymous user ID (via Firebase Authentication) so purchases and support requests can be matched to an install. It is not linked to your identity.
- Usage analytics: which screens and features are used, app version, device model, language, country, and coarse events like "onboarding completed". Collected through Firebase Analytics and used only to improve the app.
- Crash reports: technical information about crashes (Firebase Crashlytics).
- Purchase state: whether a subscription is active, managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.
We do not collect your contacts, call logs, precise location, or health data.
Invite friends
Talktap has an optional invite-a-friend programme. Every install gets a short invite code; a friend can enter yours when they join, and both of you receive an in-app benefit. To make this work, the app sends the following to the App House referral service (operated by us on Cloudflare): your anonymous user ID, a random install identifier stored on your device, the invite code involved, and the fact that one anonymous ID invited another. A hashed form of your network address is kept for 30 days to stop abuse. The benefit itself is granted through RevenueCat against the same anonymous ID it already holds for your purchases.
Nothing about your content is involved: no photos, files, contacts or names. Sharing your code uses the iOS share sheet, so we never see who you send it to. Settings → Delete all data erases your referral records too.
Data that stays on your device
- Your recordings (audio files stored in the app on this iPhone; deleted when you delete them in the app or uninstall)
- Transcripts, made on this iPhone by Apple's on-device speech recognition — the audio is never sent to a server, not even Apple's
- Summaries and action items, written on this iPhone by Apple Intelligence on iPhones that support it (nothing leaves the device)
- Names, dates, phone numbers and links found in a transcript, detected on the device to show a "key details" panel
- Your folders, favorites, marked moments, transcription language and audio-quality settings
Talktap has no server of its own. Your content is never uploaded to us, and there is no copy of it we could hand over, lose, or be compelled to disclose.
Permissions
- Microphone: to record. Audio stays on this iPhone; it is never uploaded. Requested only when you use that feature, and you can withdraw it in iOS Settings at any time.
- Speech recognition (iOS 18 only): to turn recordings into text on the device with Apple's on-device recognizer. On iOS 26 the newer on-device engine needs no separate permission. Requested only when you use that feature, and you can withdraw it in iOS Settings at any time.
Why we are allowed to process it (EEA and UK)
- Contract: delivering the app and the purchases you make.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the app stable and understanding, in aggregate, which features are used. You can object at any time using the contact below.
- Legal obligation: keeping tax and transaction records.
Third-party services
- Firebase (Google) — anonymous authentication, analytics (including approximate city/country location from your IP address), crash reporting, remote configuration and abuse protection (App Check) (privacy policy)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (privacy policy)
- Apple — App Store payments and receipts (privacy policy)
Advertising and tracking
There are none. Talktap shows no ads, contains no advertising or attribution SDKs, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. It therefore never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. We never have.
How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Recordings, transcripts and summaries on your device | until you delete them in the app or uninstall |
| Anonymous analytics events | 14 months (Firebase default), then aggregated |
| Crash reports | 90 days |
| Purchase and subscription records | as long as the subscription is active, then as tax law requires |
| Support emails | 24 months |
| Invite-a-friend records (your code, who invited whom) | 24 months, or until you delete your data in the app |
| Invite rate-limit records (hashed network address) | 30 days |
You can erase everything the app stores, including the anonymous identifier, from Settings → Delete all data inside the app. Uninstalling removes local data.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it, and you can object to analytics.
- EEA and UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do neither — without being treated differently for asking.
- Türkiye (KVKK): the rights set out in Article 11.
Email [email protected] with "Privacy Request" in the subject. We reply within 30 days. Because the app has no account, we may ask for the anonymous user ID from Settings so we can find the right records.
International transfers
Our processors, listed above, may handle data outside your country. Where that involves the EEA or UK, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS, and what stays on your device is protected by iOS app sandboxing and device encryption. Access to analytics and purchase dashboards is limited and protected by two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
If something goes wrong
If a breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority and affected users without undue delay, and describe what happened and what to do.
Automated decisions
We do not profile you and make no automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Children
Talktap is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and UK, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided data, write to us and we will delete it promptly.
This website
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects no personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date above changes and the app points to the new version. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
